Inlays and onlays are considered an excellent restorative solution for patients with dental damage that is too severe for a common filling but not quite advanced enough to require a dental crown. These custom-made restorations are designed to either fit within the cusps of your tooth (inlay) or cover one or more of them (onlay) in order to rebuild its structure and strengthen the overall shape.
During the treatment process, our team at Franklin Dental Center will begin by carefully removing the damaged portion of your tooth. Then, we’ll capture impressions of the tooth and send them to a dental laboratory in order to have your new inlay or onlay created; we will provide you with a temporary version in the meantime. Once the permanent restoration has been returned to our practice and is securely in place within your smile, you shouldn’t even be able to tell the difference!
